Artifact/Inscription Discovered . . .
===

. . . on the concrete steps to the north of my house. While many have
trod these steps, it was only today that this treasure was noticed.
Please refer to photographic image (below).

Scholars are invited - in fact encouraged - to offer opinions which
might enable a successful translation and/or interpretation of this
symbol.

Pertinent facts:

  • The inscription is located on the 9th of eleven steps, a placement
    no doubt significant in itself
  • A line bisecting the figure from bottom to top would point 234º or
slightly north of a southwesterly direction
  • No other such inscriptions were found within a fifty meter search
    radius
  • The area was frequented as late as 1900 by Quapaw, Caddo, and
Osage native Americans and more recently by superannuated hippies
  • The artifact is placed approximately 77 meters from Cold Spring

Those with any information which may aid this research should respond

The Artifact It's Very Self

The scholarly input:

Looks like someone drew a face and hair in the concrete to me. What do you think it is?

I'd say it's a head-on view of a plump turkey. Taking into account the Quapaw, Caddo, Osage, and supperannuated hippie influence you hint at, and ignoring for the moment all the occult numerology involved, perhaps it's an invitation to Thanksgiving dinner?

An Arkansas steppe?

Mighty fine, mighty fine indeed.

Just another trade route to some, but I say it’s special:P

Good idea, photographing it when wet. I've photographed a number of disturbingly bizarre gravestones (mostly in Scotland, Ireland, and Iowa) and it's difficult to get any contrast. This is good.
I think it's a tom turkey full front.

Aha! Two votes for the turkey. That makes it official, I say.

Guess your place used to be called Turkey Towers.

It's a labyrinth to my eyes.

My first impression was the turkey already mentioned, a gobbler head on with tail feathers in full display. Such turkeys were present in great abundance all over the Eureka Springs area, long before the tall two legged ones arrived.

It's Lucy!!! Where's Charlie Brown???

I'm thinking it looks like the illegitimate child of George Washington and Dolly Madison...does that help?
